Yes, it will fit. The 2 piece shaft was done to avoid any misalignment due to poor block machining.

FYI
Shaft diameter is only relevant to fitting the gear onto the shaft. It has no bearing on fitting the distributor into the block, or how it interfaces with the camshaft, unless the fit of the gear to the shaft is loose. The only time you would need to change the gear is if its bad, or if you need to change to a bronze gear for a specific application, like a '54 or earlier factory camshaft for compatability issues.

???????? poor block machining from the factory ?????

You are saying the factory did not correct a faulty machining issue for years only to re-work the dist shaft.
naugh !! I don't think I go for that one.

i just posted a question about this floppy end on the dist i just put in my 230...i had never seen one like it before...the dist itself feels feels alittle sloppy when i installed it compared to the solid shaft one i took out but i think that due to not having a solid shaft right to another solid point like the oil pump.....

I had both, two piece & solid shaft dist's, The split one I did not like because it was too loose & it showed when checking the engine timeing.
