I used a set of ROL intake gaskets on a V6 Chevy project and didn't really care for them. The raised port embossing was so thick that when the manifold was placed back down the bolt holes were dramatically misaligned to the point the bolts could not be installed back into the heads.
Since I was reinstalling the same intake that came off you can imagine my frustration. The solution was to place each gasket between 2 flat steel plates and squeeze down the embossed port seals so the manifold would sit correctly over the head holes.

I may have got a bad set of gaskets or whatever but I am kind of stubborn and once I find something I don't like I won't use it again. In all fairness though once the manifold was finally back on I didn't have any problems as far as leakage or coolant seepage.
