I am Canadian. I have a 261 out of an 1959 Pontiac. After a
e-mail from Evil Dr 235 he has told me that my 261 is different then the US models. I was always wondering about your plug if it was in or out "WHAT". I could not find what you guys meant. Okay anyone out there that has a Canadian 261 that has changed over to a fullflow oil system. Please answer the call tell me if it can be done, if you did it and how. Thanks..

conductor,
I believe from your picture, you have the extra boss on the block for the oil out line that can be drilled and tapped for the 3/8 pipe threads as can the rear boss. The rear boss that is drilled and tapped will be the oil return line from the remote fullflow filter. You will need to install a plug to force the oil out of the new oil hole into the FF filter, instead of going to the main oil galley. It is all very simple when you see how the factory did it.I am going to have to take a trip up north and get a Canadian 261 for my collection.Have you ever seen any Canadian 235s or 261s with a name embossed on the valve cover.I have two Canadian 261 valve covers that have no name on them and are slightly taller than the U.S.ones.I traded two fellows from Canada two U.S.valve covers that had Chevrolet embossed on them.Anyway goodluck on your quest,

To the question of valve covers, no I have never seen the ones you talk of but always on the look out. As for the oil FF filter on my 261 do you know were I can get a hold of any factory drawing of this filter setup?? Thought I should get ahold of Tom Langdon to see if he has any thoghts on this. Can someone post a picture of this plug that is in or out, never seen one??

Over at Jim Carters site, he has a tech article with pictures showing the fitting and pin locations. Our tech tips on this site has a link to it, but it doesn't seem to be working. Try this
www.oldchevytrucks.com/cgi/htmlos.exe/00448.2.7628682821100030716

The fitting sizes on the US 261's are 1/2" NPT.
