whilst waiting for the summer to arrive I got to browsing through the photos I took at the drag race's here in the uk back in the seventies, got to wonder whats happened to all those inline Jag engines, all chrome and pollished SU's,double overhead cams short pipes an all, guess they got beyond ecomical repair, would'nt take much for a Jag,probably ended up holding a door open or stopping the boat from escaping.

Jags are not to hard to find. They are an excellant engine and were often coupled to a Borg Warner 4 speed.Only draw back is setting the valves after the valve job, They use little hardened discs of varying thicknesses to get the right clearance. Very painstaking work but doable if you split is up and took a few nights to do it so you dont get frustrated.Buyng the various discs is not easy but I am sure they are available. Triumph six used the same adjustment method. Engines are above 200 hp as produced . I suspect a serious attempt might reach 500 Hp or close. I have done a milder one for an old friend many many years ago. I was a Jag , British Leyland/ BMC/ AMC mechanic for a few years. Why? because they were payng $3.40 per hour when everyone else was a payng $1.85 to $2.25. Seemed like a good idea to me. Now you know from the wages that it really was a long time ago.Anyway The jag six is among my favourites even though I bleed Mopar blue.
