update 9/04
Unable to resist I called Steves cell phone and **** if it didnt work ! His wife filled me in while he was messing with his starting rollers . Will call me later - prepping to run now . As I listened I heard Terry Prince fire up his machine in the background - Such Fun ! Bout made me jump out of my chair ! The excitement flowed out of the phone ! Steve has made only one run , this yesterday about 3 PM . The salt is VERY rough and rutted , wet and slick , heavy wheel slippage . Turned a 146.917 MPH , motor running VERY strong - sure to be far faster if he had traction . The crowd of would be runners and people has doubled over last year , really grown . More later .

small wheel moves by fire and rod,
big wheel moves by the grace of god,
every time that wheel turns round,
bound to cover just a little more ground.
