Max Re' (son) just told me. Time for the first pass was 221.+mph. They're going back to the pit to change oil and later make the return run.

The return run wasn't as fast, but it was fast enough to get an AMA record at an average speed of 217 mph.
Max said from the truck as he followed Don down the track. He had the windows open, and I heard the announcer say, "A beautiful run by that 1952 Vincent."
(Actually, the motors came from Stevenage in 1948 and in 1952.)
