i may be driving my 67 nova from nova scotia to onterio (1500 km's) in august chances are i will be driving straight thru 22hours. its a 250 with 2speed power glide. other than a tune up what else should i consider doing? and would installing a transmission cooler be a good idea?
what could i do to get a little beter gas milage?

just plan the trip as yowould any other. Maybe a spare Belt, hoses? ,water. oil (1,2) qts.a spare tire, etc. as for a tranny cooler I wouldn't think you would need to do that. As for the better gas milage ( joking here avoid Up hills,& head winds LOL ) But if you can ride in the middle of two truckers That would helps some They would block the winds and help pull you along. Some may very well know what I'm talking about here? The Whole they put into the wind makes for a nice drag to small cars and some truckers Don't mind you sitting in that little pocket behind them As Long as they know your there.

But Good Luck an Be safe On your long trip.

If the Nova has been driven daily and maintained, it probably will not need anything special. Change the fluids if they are getting close to being due and make sure to check all safety related items (tires, brakes, lights wipers etc).

If the car has been sitting for a while, take tools for basic repairs, duct tape, gasket sealant, wire etc. You may also want to add a set of gauges just in case also...

The car and drivetrain combination you have is probably one of the most reliable ever built. Good luck on your trip.

the car has been sitting for a while. . .
and after hearing what the gas prices are suposed to be close to a dollar a liter. i think the nova just might stay parked on this trip. my nissan micra will be making the trip instead.
