Hey guys i was just wondering what you would preffer to put on a 300. Ive got a 2bbl intake but no carb and was wanting maximum fuel economy, reliable, and easy to put on.

Thanks

I've had good success with the autolite (motorcraft) 2100/2150. Easy to rebuild & they were used on a zillion small blocks. I'd get one off of a 351 or 400 & that should do you just fine.

FlatheadFarmer,
Yes, I too vote for the Autolite 2100/2150. You mentioned you wanted to maximize fuel economy, so I would look for one of the smaller ones - the venturi size is cast on the side behind the throttle linkage. Try a 1.08 or 1.02, found on small blocks. The 351 / 400 generally used the larger 1.21, which would work, but I feel the smaller version will give a little bit better fuel economy and throttle response. By the way I usually pay $5 for them - another distinct advantage vs Holley. Good luck.

i went from 10-14mpg on my 80 stick econo w/ OD- the 14 being highway miles at 65 mph- to 16.6 mpg in mixed highway/city w/ a 1.21 type 2100 2bbl autolite , offy c, and FI ex manifolds. everything else stock. very useful increase in power, too. The carb is dead nuts simple. The 2100 uses midrange jets, the 2150 uses metering rods. I ran it in & about, monitored manifold vacuum, then got a 8.5 economiser valve (less than half idle vac) from Holley to fine tune it. Evidently, the 2100 jets are very hard to come by, but my plugs & tail pipe look good, so finer tuning wont be an issue. you will find a throttle cable off a v8 van is longer than the 6 cable by enough (if you are running a van) to work.
If a van, youll need a manual choke, as there are serious clearance issues w/ a automatic choke housing. As it is, I dont need any choke at all to start, tho its a little balky runnin til the temp gauge lifts....mutt, happy camper....

Where do you guys get a 2 BBL manifold for the 300. Is it a factory or aftermarket piece? Know of any available?
