I was thinking the Dodge was a 218,Ply.201,could be wrong. One thing to consider is the 251 or 265 will be 2 inches longer.Your '37 eng.is 23 inches and the 251 and 265 are 25 inches,could run into a little problem on the mounts. Do you want to drag,take off fast or just curise faster. I have a '38 Dodge and installed a '56 Ply.crank and rods,bored .040 over and made a 234 ci out of the 218.That gave me all the power and torque I needed then I installed a T-5 5 speed manual O/D trans with a 273 camaro rear and its a real cruiser.
