Hello everybody,
I'm still around and keeping tabs on the discussions.
Carlo, have you given up on the duals altogether? Air bleed correction is the trick on those pesky ball&ball carbs. The ones on our tractor haven't had to be readjusted or tinkered with one bit since getting them sync'ed last year.
A dual carb setup when functioning properly is a major boost to these engines. When they are not functional, they are a PAIN!
On the tractor, its still holding up without any problems. Although we don't win as much as we did (some bigger ohv's have come to town!) it still turns more rpm's than any of them without problem. It regularly hits 6000, cruises at 5000, the final rpm at the end of a pull is usually in the 4500 range. We're sticking with the basic setup to just see how much this engine can take for how long.
I still think an Edgy head and new cam profile will drasticly improve things. The addition of HEI would add some power to this engine too, but I'm still refining that situation before I grenade another advance mechanism (worn mechanical advances do not like 5000 rpm!).
