I got the flat 6 back in my '55 Ply. I was looking at it, and discovered that it sits crooked in the chassis. The tailshaft of the trans is almost 2" offset to the passengers side of the car, and the crank pully is right in the center of the frame. Is it supposed to be like that? With the tailshaft offset like that, it lines up almost perfectly with the offset on the pinion. I'd assume that it's supposed to be straight in the chassis, but I can't find anything to verify that. Opinions?

Thanks

I believe this is the way it was designed. I have a picture of a panel truck running gear that shows the off set. There is no explanation for it in the books I have. Hope this helps.
