Is there a steel crank for the 250 I-6? Can a cast crank 292 take 8lbs boost from a turbo?

The '63 model year 292 crank was forged steel.

The cast crank will take more abuse than the steel one. The cast crank will take 600 hp no problem.

You would have to ask Douglas on the forum here.
In Brazil, they seem to be really into turbocharging inline Chevys.
I think some guys are making 850 HP w/a 250?
The record for a street car???is 10.20's for a 250. This is in a car , not a dragster.

That´s right, Hank!!!

Here in Brasil, some fo the fastest street cars are running about 30 psi of boost with stock cast crank, producing more than 850 hp with only a 44mm weber carburetor and 3 extra fuel injectors...

Race cars, with light weight body and tubular chassis, are running about 8.5s, and about 1.300 hp with cast crank without any problem with the crankshaft.
The problem of too much horse power is the engine block, that broke all main caps if you don´t use a really strong main stud girdle...
