According to the book "Chrysler Engines" (see previous posts) They all have 4.0 in bore spacing and a deck height of 9.29

4.0"?!?! Wow, with a 3.91" bore that only gives you a 0.09 separation. That can't be correct, can it?

I see your point. This definitely seems wrong, especially since the cutaway shows a water passage between the cylinders. Unless they used "Australian inches" (joke) I think this must be an error. It was to be somewhere in the 4.3 range. Unfortunately, there is no mention in the text; the dimension is only given in one table. It does indicate that the spacing is the same for each one, so I guess you could measure from the first to the last as accurately as possible.. that way any error would be divided by 5.
Sorry my “know it all” book didn’t.

hello,
according to a guy on Mopar Market it is 4.400". no info on deck height yet.
hope this helps.

regards,Rod \:D
edit: a bit more info here:
"Can get deck height but not till tomorrow, [245] . They are all listed with the same stroke 3.680" and all have 5.750" conrod centres which means the deck height is common. Doing some rough maths the deck height should be about 9.365". ie half the stroke +conrod length + comp height of piston =1.840 + 5.750 +1.775 = 9.365".
ie, assuming piston comes to top of bore. you had better check my calcs."

we will get it all eventually.

xafalcongs,
"9.300" on block that may have been decked."so says the "man"
so Leif with his 9.29 seems to be on the money.
me? I have a smooth slant- I leave those rattling hemi 6's to the boy racers.
;\)

regards,Rod \:D lol.

Wish I'd seen this question a week ago... I was looking over a bunch of these engines and had a tape measure handy.

Strange that the Hemi 6 Pack forum's 'knowledge base' doesn't want to divulge this. It's got to be there, but the links aren't working.

Bores for the different capacities are:

215ci - 3.52" - 140bhp/200ft/lbs
245ci - 3.76" - 165bhp/235ft/lbs
265ci - 3.91" - 203bhp/262ft/lbs

Obviously this is in standard form, there was a 218bhp/273ft/lb version of the 265, still with 2bbl Carter, while the Weber-fed engines gave 248bhp/306ft/lbs or 280bhp/310ft/lbs or 302bhp/325ft/lbs depending on which version you got. Which outstripped all the V8s offered in the Australian models.

It's also the case that some engines (for cars intended to be raced) left the factory with overbores... not sure whether they were 0.030" or 0.040".

I'm going to need a shop manual. I just keep putting it off since I haven't decided on shipping over a 265.....too many other projects to finish.
