I am trying to update my truck a little and want to move the gas tank to the back under the bed. I have a 1966 Chev PU. I have heard that a later model Blazer or GMC Jimmy tank will work. Anyone tried this and know what years fit?

I am not sure on the 66, but a 69-72 Blazer tank works fine on the 67-72 trucks. A little time with a tape measure on one of the later should tell you all you need to know. Good luck!

Just crawled under a friends 71 Chev PU and found that the rear frame rails are wider, so back to the drawing board - maybe an S10 Blazer tank will be narrow enough ... crawling around under cars on the side of the road makes people look at you funny ....

Just found another BB that list a lengthy discussion about replacing the tank with various options and opinions about it all (http://www.chevyduty.com/frame-forum.html) under 1960-66 trucks, heading=Gas tank relocation - if any one else needs this information...

I used a late 60's Mustang/Falcon (ooooohhhh icky) tank on my 59 Fleetside. I removed the spare tire mount from the rear of the frame and it slid right in between my rails. I moved the tank filler neck so I now fill up in the bed. Dog

I USED A GRANADA. THE FILLER IS IN THE REAR - I PLAN TO COME UP THRU THE FLOOR - IN A RECESSED (FLUSH) FILLER DOOR.
