Tom,Here in the East Mid-Atlantic area I would recommend it. If your driving your 3100 in winter or those frosty fall days without the heat on the manifold there is a good chance your carb(s) will ice up. I had a '68 250 that drove me nuts on I-95 on the way to work. I couldn't keep the carb warm enough.After while the NJ State Troopers had me "profiled" :
and quit stopping to see if I needed help as I sat on the side of the road warming up!
