I have a 235 pressure oiler ('56) in a 53 Chevy P/U. I plan a mild period upgrade, i.e. dual single barrel carbs, Fenton headers, mild cam, improved inlet breathing mostly to make it a suitable tourer up to 70 mph. It won't be a major change in hp or torque, but I need some info to choose the head and rod bolting. As a retired metallurgist, I would like to find out what the OEM bolts were so that I have a starting point. I will be working a contract soon at a fully equipped lab and I could do an analysis on these bolts if I just had a few samples. Mine are currently in use until I can find the cash to do the engine rebuild. I understand the engines run poorly with several of each missing. I would be happy to post the details of the bolts when the tests are complete. If anyone is willing to part with several unusable rod and head bolts off a 235 pressure oiled engine, reply and I will supply an address.
