Nice chart on the 261
I have Hot Rod Sept 62, says the 194 is 415lb with no flywheel but all accessories. Not clear wet or dry....
Same chart puts the 283 at 530lb, seems a tad high - and 348 at 645lb
I remember my 194 at 400 lb even but mightve been without alt or fan or something.
As far as pieces of a 230 Chev:
Bare block: 120 lb
Head with therm housing and valves in it: 62
(Bare head guess 48)
Crank: 50
Cam+Gear: 12
Oil Pan: 8
Intake+Exhaust manifolds together: 28
The block, crank, head adds up 93 lb lighter than your 261, but I cant figure where the rest of the weight comes off....
