Silly question here. On my 52 chevy pickup, trying to replace my inside door and window cranks w/new chrome ones. I've removed the tiny recessed/threaded crank screws but no luck. Will NOT budge. I've yanked and banged on 'em (BOTH doors) and these guys will NOT come off! I actually had to hack-saw the door handle post to get the handle off. Any suggestions?? but also

Hank, I checked the handles on my '51 11/2ton truck and they are loose enough that romoving the set screws would let them fall right off. Yours must really be corroded on, or someone glued them along the line.

If possible I would try heat or maybe drill into the handle to the post they are on and then either use a makeshift puller going through the drilled hole to the shaft or thead the hole and screw in a bolt against the shaft.

Just thoughts. Sam

Thanks sam. Yup, the B#$%&@! who had it before musta REALLY not wanted the handle to come off b/c only after drilling the hole and THEN chopping it w/the metal-bladed sawzall, did i see the cavity filled with epoxy. there was no way in heck i would been able to pull it off. lets just hope the window cranks aren't applied in the same fashion

If any upholstery can be removed (doubtful)or shielded and heat applied with heat gun or otherwise it might help soften the epoxy so the handle can be pulled. Worth a try, just don't start any fires. Sam
