Here is my recommendation for timing.
idle with no vacum, 8-12 degrees,fixed set by you
idle with vacum , 20-25 degrees,fixed+vac can
cruise (highway) , 40-48 fixed+vac can+ mechanical
full throttle, 36-38 fixed+mechanical

This requires a mix of timing tuning.
