bigdaddy55 - ck out this trip log - Bill Miles has a 270 powered six backed up by a 4spd hydramatic and it is a great driving truck. In a pickup, they are bullet proof if properly rebuilt. Lots of information on them on the BB over at http://oldgmctrucks.infopop.cc/eve

Use to run one in a 57 Chevy Sedan Delivery in Jr. Stock. Mine was built by B&M. One of their tricks was to add one disk and one clutch to the rear pack. The only issue I had with it at first was it left the line so hard that the oil would pack up in the rear of the pan then it would suck air and fall on its face. I made a deeper pan with baffles and ran 2 extra Qts. of ATF and every thing was great after that.Bullet proof for sure...
