My temp sending unit is currently installed in the side of the head. There is also a pluggnd hole in my thermostat mounting housing below the t-stat. I figure I could also mount it there. Is there any advantage in mounting it in one place or the other. My engine is a 250. Thanks, Todd

Mine read about 15 degrees hotter in the head, so I moved it to the T-stat housing. I had always thought my gauge was off so I installed two, one in the head and the other in the housing. Since both were checked in hot water on the stove, I new they were correct. Mine now reads about 1 to 3 degrees above the T-stat on hot days and 1 to 3 below on cold days. When it was in the head, it was always about 15 to hot.

So I guess what you are saying is that it is more accurate if it is in the T-stat housing?? Todd

Yes, that will give you a better cylinder-to-cylinder average temp.
