Ok... It's been years since I've posted here. I'm wanting to add a little more power to my 74' 250 powered Nova. So far my father and I have added: Offy 4bbl intake, Holley 390 cfm vac. sec. 4bbl, Clifford dual headers (jet-coated) w/2" true dual exh. to the rear, and a custom HEI dist. that was built locally by an experienced engine builder. We're still running the stock short block, cam, and head. The difference over stock was dramatic, but as every hot-rodder would care for...I'd like a little (to as much as I can get) more.
I'm thinking about adding a junkyard sc. I can get an entire setup (sc, ,sc blowthrough valve, intercooler, piping, etc) from a Ford SuperCoupe(v-6 3.8L) for dirt-cheap ($250 ish) in junkyards around where I live.
I'm thinking it would be relatively easy to adapt this system to my vehicle as a blow-though system. And Yes, I've researched how to convert my carb/carb box/fuel pump to accept boost. There is plenty of room for mounting the sc, as there is no A/C on my car and the SC (Eaton M-90) can be mounted in any position(does not effect self-contained oiling system). Fabbing a bracket is not a prob either for my dad.
My main quesion would be: the M90 produces 12 psi of boost on the 3.8L (supercoupe engine) at a max of 15,200 sc rmp. Assuming no fab. error and a max RMP of 5,000 on the stock 250 (so approx. 1:3 crank to sc ratio), what kind performance increase could I expect?
Feel Free to speculate...bench race...I'm looking for any and all advice anyone is willing to provide.
This seemed like the best place to ask the question.
