I have been slowly but surely plugging oil leaks on my 59 235. The next is the front seal. Is this something I could do? How hard is it? I have already replaced the valve cover and pushrod gaskets as well as the oil lines to the oil filter canister.

Well, you could if you are willing to pull off the crank damper first. If it's just the crank seal pop out the old one and insert a new one. You'll need a piece of pipe or a socket that will fit over the crank end to drive the new seal on squarely but without striking it too hard. If it leaks thru the cover to block gasket you'll have to also pull the crankcase pan because of two inside mounting bolts.Replace the crank key also when reinstalling the damper.

Dang..........
The pan is leaking too. Probably the rear seal. I hate bandaids. I really need to rebuild this engine.
