One of the problems in removing the valve cover from our sixes is the thermostat housing. That and the fuel and vac line to distributor are also stuffed between the valve cover, and thermostat housing. There are several sources that make a 5/16 aluminum spacer for the thermostat housing that eliminates these problems, or make your own.
