I recently asket Tom Langdon why the old chevy/gmc engines had such a short life span. He replied that it was due to the miserable air filters, lack of full flow oil filters, and cast iron rings. He thought the old engines should run 100k+ miles.
The chevy and gmc were, compared to other truck makers , economy engines. Compare the warrantees offered back then.
