You guys got me to look up the specs on these engines in my old Motors manuals.

Here's the poop: The Willys Jeep station wagons, pickups and cars used 134 four-bangers, (both flathead and "F" head configurations). There were two 161 cubic inch sixes too; one was a flathead and one was an "F" head The 226's came in in '54 and lasted until ?. (That book covered up to '59)

The Kaiser/Frazer "big" cars ALL had 226's in 'em, from beginning to end. Henry Js and All- states, (same car, sold by Sears) used Willys flathead and "F" head fours and 161 "F" head sixes. Although there's nothing in the manuals, that I have, indicating who made the engines, the bore and stroke on both Kaiser and Willys 226's are the same. (3 5/16" X 4 3/8")

If I can remember correctly, the Willys had HURRICANE embossed on the heads of their engines, but I believe all 226s were Continentals.

For those of you who don't know, "F" head engines had the intake valves in the head and exhaust valves in the block. Rolls Royce also used this valve configeration in some cars.

Super charged Kaisers: A friend, with a very nice and fast Mercury-powered '40 Ford coupe, got STOMPED by a blown Kaiser "Dragon", south of Lakeland, Florida, in '58! Boy, did he get a ragging from us!

Lord, let me live long enough to do all the projects I have planned!
