They will fit the bore but you will have little power because the wrist pins are cast lower in the piston on the 292 than on the 250. This makes the 292 piston not only taller than the 250, but a "taller deck" piston as well.

The much lower TDC height of a 250 piston would give you fewer than 292 cubic inches and, I'd imagine, much lower compression than a stock 292 (which was a rather low compression engine as is).

The piston itself is also Shorter Not just the rist pin location. and your compression No dout would end up Under 8-1 hope this helps }[oooooo]

If you want a fairly inexpensive way to bump up the CR on a 292, milling the head will do it. Another way that's not very expensive is to use an LPG piston, which will give a 9:1 CR to a stock 292.

LPG pistons for the 292 have been out of production for a while now but I checked a local Autozone about a year and a half ago and after making call after call (and more calls) he was able to track down a set in some warehouse. About $200/set I believe. The only option was .040 overbore and I recall the part number being 980P (Federal Mogul). They'll pop up on Ebay from time to time too.

Just wondering can you used 307 small block chevy pistons on a 250? I beleive they to have the same bore.

An added plus of the 307 pistons is the pin height moves the top of the piston closer to the deck of the block and you end up with a little more compression. Its too bad the 307 was such a dog compared to the other SBC's. Had it been a more popular engine for hopping up we might have a wider selection of performance pistons available off the shelf.
