Hey everybody, I've got a 64 GMC pickup with the stock 230/3speed with 3.73 gear. It was completely stock before I started taking everything apart, and it actually ran pretty decent. Since then I've added tubular headers and an HEI. I am hoping that will make her run stronger, haven't had a chance to test it yet. My question is, I have a rochester 2bbl from a 1972 K10 that I could rebuild and buy an adapter and stick on the stock manifold, but will it be worth it? Would it give any more pep than the stock 1bbl rochester?

I think so, as they are a little bigger than what you got now. if the 2G is offa 350 and has 1-11/16 throttle butterflies, then I would think so. The 2G's off a 283-307 that has only 1-9/16 throttle butterflies might not be worth fooling with. Its the cost of the adapter that defines "worth it". If you can trust the sellers, try to find a 292 intake & one bbl carb off ebay or junkyard. They should have a 1-11/16 butterfly WITH A 1-5/8 VENTURI (hard to measure without taking it apart). The 350 2G will have 1-3/16 venturis, where the 307, 283 style has only 1-3/32 venturis. maybe the 292 carb may be made to fit your 230's intake with only a little grinding therefore no adapter and no linkage changes. One thing, the two bbls dont have that little whistle sound when you gun them that that the one bbls (BC's)have. That always sounded a little anemic to me.

The large 2G (1-11/16) really needs a long tapered adapter to a 2-3/8" manifold opening for best effect, which is way larger than any stock manifold will accept that I'm aware of. It's going to help, but I'm not sure you'll be happy with it (vs. a 2 bbl. manifold).
