OK, anyone know where to install the oil pressure sending unit on a 261? I by-passed the full pressure external mount oil filter.
Thanks, Tom

Dear Tom;
There's a place for it just in front of the forward filter line. Or just follow the mail oil gallery.
Good luck, John M......

I don't see where you're speaking of. All I see is the 3 side motor mount holes.

John,
The only opening in the main oil gallery is for the rear 1/2" outlet for the oil filter. I may have to jury rig up a fitting.

261's don't provide a location in the block, they expect you to tee into the external oil filter lines. The original fitting had a 1/2" npt into the block to the 1/2" flare fitting of the old lines with a 1/8" npt tap for the oil filter, on the return hose. I am running hydraulic hoses to my oil filter so I drilled and tapped a 1/8" npt hole into my oil filter housing on the outlet side of the filter. All of the oil line kits you buy at your flaps have a 1/8" npt to compression adaptor for the gauge line included in them.

I meant the oil pressure block to gauge kits. Every auto parts store has one or two in stock. It's just a length of tubing with some fittings. FLAPS= Friendly Local Auto Parts Store
If you want 1/2" oil lines Mr. Gasket makes kits for those too. 2 and 3 foot are available, and you can cut off the hose and re-attach the fittings.

Dear Tom;
I'll reasearch this & let ya know tomorrow.
It's different if you use & oil filter. I must have been thinking of the 'early' 1954 261" etc.

PS:
Check your head. Some models have a plug oposite the oil gallery to the rocker arm assembly. You might be able to re-size this to work.
Looking back I think the large truck filters mounted on the firewall & that is where their sender was.
It might be possible to put one on the front by the timing cover @ the end of the main oil gallery.
My engine is covered in the shop & I didn't get time to 'dig it out'. Perhaps this weekend.
