hey all, i have a few questions for you. The car is a 69 chevelle with a 250 l6 and a power glide trans.I'm just wondering what the car will do in a 1\4 mile bone stock.
I do have a holly 390 carb, Clifford headers and a offenhauser intake that I will be using in the near futer, what kind of HP increase can I expect?
The last question is what will it cost me roughly to get it to around 14 seconds in a 1\4 mile?

thankx...

What is the rear gear ratio?
4 dr?

19-22 seconds in the 1/4
Just off the top of my head w/out going much into detail.
About $1500-$2000 w/a cheap turbo install, methanol injection & definately change the trans, PG has got to go.
Need to drop some weight.
That's using your current good running engine & bolting on parts.

Yes, that is bone stock times I have seen @ 3000 + altitude track. Which the norm is roughly 1/2 second slower.

You might get a 20HP increase with those components. The real gains will come with a performance camshaft and cylinder head work.

neat. thank you.

the car is going to be a semi daily driver on the street. what cam would you recommend. other than bigger valves, stiffer springs and lump ports what else can be done to the head?

I guess a stall converter is necessary too.

what is the stock gear ratio? what would be a good ratio for the street?

Your gear ratio for the street depends on what size tires you are going to run and how much fuel you can afford. My guess for a street car you don't want to go more than a 3.73, that is a lot of gear with stock diameter tires if you are doing a lot of highway driving.

Been there, Done that, Hope to live long enough to do it again.

not sure of the tire size but, there are 15" rims on it. the only highway the car will see is to and from cruse nights so not often...

thanks for all the replys it's really helpful
