I'm planning on installing a 2x1 Edmunds water heated intake on my basicly stock, rebuilt 235 (with Fenton's). Been told the Carter W1 (574S) from '41-'48 is what I want to run. Can i get some feedback/advice concerning tuning, linkage, problems etc. from you guys and maybe a source to purchase? This will be my 1st experence with 2x1 except for MG's. Thanks

Dear 4d9r;
Those carbs work great and are on e-bay all the time for $20.00 & up depending on the condition etc.
Patrick's will have the linkage you will need.
Good luck, John M.....

Hey!!! what about 1904 holleys like from a 223 ford. thats what ive got on my 261 and so far im pleased. ive only run it here around the house cause its not quite road ready but it runs and idles nice. im eventually gonna run 2 if all keeps going well and they are easy to tune all parts from the 4 bbls fit as far as jets and power valves. so thats my story. thanks

actually, Patricks may not have the linkage. They seem to only have a linkage that works with Offy intakes. I called about a linkage for my Tattersfield and they said their linkage would not work
You can get Carter W-1s for $5 and up on ebay in decent shape, but it's hard to tell what year they are without the tag... and they're ALL missing the tag. If anyone knows a good way to tell, I'd LOVE to hear it because I have several I'm scrounging parts from.

I prefer Zenith 28's with adjutable main jets. They also can be found on ebay at reasonable prices.Fine tuning can be done without disassembling carb which is a plus in my books. And as I always say....if a little is good more is better and too much is just right!!
