I've used a high quality bicycle cable for a single 2V application. There is a large difference between GOOD bike cable and cheap stuff. The good stuff has more strands and higher tensile strength and the housing is lined with teflon or nylon. It's not the best choice but it will work for short distances where the bends are few. I also turn my own housing ends and cable clevises which get TIG welded in place (none of that set screw anchoring stuff).
