does anybody know anything about this engine?

Its supposedly a 250 engine with fuel injection...
Is it the same 250 engine we all know?
The intake seems to have 6 runners, do you guys think the head could be different as well and actually have 12 ports?

the owner is apparently from brazil, seiscanecos, do you know anything about this engine??

I was told once that Brazil had Chevy 6's with 12 port heads (not good flowing though) and fuel injection. I don't know any more than that.

The owner says it had 168HP stock.. so something about this engine has to be special (regular stock 250's are about 110 HP stock, I don't think fuel injection will give an engine 58 HP!)

I wonder how we could get our hands on the intake manifold. It would be a nice and probably cheaper way to have a fuel injection manifold than making one.
Have the inside of the valvetrain cover coated with a heat rejecting coating and the main weak point is eliminated.

I would like to know more about these injected engines as well, even if just to see how GM did and didn't decide to inject the car.

Hey people look what I found:

http://www.inliners.org/rides/rides24.html

An inliners member talks a bit about the 250s in brazil and mentions they were made till '92. In 95 they were remade with EFI.

Heres a site about a guy putting one of the EFI 250 engines in a JEEP. It apparently came out of a silverado. By what I can see in the pictures the engine seems to be the 250 we know and love (even the motor mounts seem the same) so I don't think I'm confusing two different engines.

It's been translated by google cuz the original site was in portuguese:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=...Flanguage_tools

I wonder if when they upgraded the engine they upgraded the head and crankshaft? I'd really like some info (seiscanecos are you out there?). It's got to have something different, it supposedly puts out 138 HP

The engine also seemed to have distributorless ignitions.. It's like it already has most of the upgrades that I wanted to do to my current 250..
All I'd have to do to get it to where I want is the supercharger, headers, and to BORE it!!!

Anybody got any ideas on how I could get my hands on one of these?

I kept looking for more info,

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=...Flanguage_tools

Here a 250 from a n "Omega" is compared to one from the silverado. Aparantly the omega engine has 168HP while the silverado engine has 138HP but it has more torque at very low revolutions..

"They see the Numbers:

- Omega: 168cv and 29.1Kgf the 4500 RPM
- Silverado: 138cv and 30.7Kgf the 2500 RPM"

Also from what I could understand, both have sequential multipint injection, distributorless ignition and individual individual intake runners!!!

"The engine of 4,1 liters drift of the used one per decades in the Opal, but suffered significant alterations in the system from management, with injection sequential multipoint Bosch Motronic and direct ignition without deliverer headstock, with geminados individual ducts of admission instead of; command of valves, with bigger duration and crossing; pistons, lighter and with forged knuckles; springs and rods of valve, more resistant."

Anybody interested in importing new parts for our 250s??

I'm gonna be saving up some money to go to festival in brasil (birthplace of thongs, btw) and come back with a new 250 from an omega!!

I'm sure this head would also fit on a 292. Lets find out the details of how to get some and get a manual for the engine.

Hi Ed,
Tom Langdon looked into this years ago. I don't see any for sale here in the states, so I would guess they aren't worth the price it would take to get them here. Wouldn't hurt to do a little checking though. One advantage is that with 12 ports you can "tune" the intake runners and get some real performance from F.I. (or carbs. for that matter).

From what I've read about intake systems you can achieve approximately 10%-15% increase in output through the use of individual intake runners tuned to a specific RPM. Which is 20-30hp in an engine at ~200 hp. Yeah, we're losing a bit with the siamese ports I would think.

Luis BRW,

I've been doing some extensive research through some contacts I have in Central America but it seems the Omega with the inline 6 was not available there. So I am persuing a source I have in Argentina and am attempting establish a Brazillian contact.

I did find something really interesting half way around the world in Australia though a 3.3 liter inline 6 From Holden . . . . .

http://www.myholden.com/images/toranas/uc/sarsha/pic6.jpg

Sure looks like a Chevy L6 doesn't it ? Except for the distributor location.

How about an EFI version . . . .

THe EFI motors are a 12 port head design I believe. Veeeeeery interesting Huh?

I'll keep you posted on the South American stuff if and when it comes along.

Scroll down this page and you'll see a couple more interesting pix including another EFI motor at the bottom of the page.
