Finding Rod specs has been really hard for me. What are you trying to do, or is it a secret?

You would guess there is a Mopar connection, wouldn't you?

We are looking for rods to suit our project engine and we need rods with a wider big end than V8 rods have. The rods we have zeroed in on from an aftermarket supplier are fine for engines that are to be revved harder, with a length of 6.25", but for an engine built more for torque we want one of slightly less, the 6" one made for the Chev 6 looks perfect.

But...

It needs about a tenth of an inch taken from the big end width to suit. This is why I needed bearing width... we can grind the sides of the forging, but do we need to get some other shells to fit?

The reason for asking the ID of the big end bore is that the longer rods we will use have a good range of modern bearings available for them, there is a possibility (yet to be determined, of course) that the bearings for it might be able to be fitted to the Chev rods with a minor hone or something.

As for sintered iron rods, I am totally defeated when it comes to their use in anything bigger than a lawnmower!
