I just got asked this question and to he honest really did not know the answer. So when you set the cam gear and crank gear up with the dots lined up, are you on tdc for no.1 or no. 6.

With the dots on the gears aligned, but the crank gear dot at 12 o'clock and the cam gear dot at 6 o'clock, you would be firing on #6 cylinder. With both of the dots at 12 o'clock you would be firing on #1 cylinder.

with the dots lined up with one another in closest proximity, #6 is in TDC AND FIRING.
