They are everywhere. Cheapest place is to buy a Korean era M135 or M211. They usually sell for $50 at government auction.

i saw at least two 302s for sale in the classified ads of the Inliners "12-Port News" that arrived at my PO box yesterday. There were also some parts for sale, including two cylinder heads. These engines also appear in the Classifieds on this website.

Military 302s require an electric fuel pump, and there is a boss on the passenger side of the block that must be ground down in order to mount a conventional starter. The military oil pan worked quite well in a six-by-six, but will need to be replaced by a more conventional pan when the engine is installed in a car or light truck. These and a few other quirks are fairly easily overcome.

If you find any of those $50 six-by-sixes, buy all you can! The engines, even the heads, will bring considerably more than that by themselves, and restorers of military equipment may also be looking for parts.

God's Peace to you.

I thought about buying as many as I could. The trouble with the mil trucks is that you have to buy the whole truck. Shipping will be ~$400 each to get the truck home. Include the time to dismantle and there is no money to be made. The only thing on those trucks of any value is the engine. I know of two in northwestern Iowa if anyone is interested. They are not at auction so you will have to pay a little more than $50.

I was wondering about parts interchangeability between the GMC 302 military and the 302 civilian versions. Anyone care to reply on this one? Well about a month has gone by and No help here, guess I will just have to learn by experience,
