Attached to a side cover bolt is a rectangular 4 pin relay. This is a junk yard engine, so nothing was plugged into it when I brought it home. the only numbers I can make out are 477321. Any idea what it controles?

It sounds like part of the timing "Electronic Spark Control" that was used on later 292's.

I guess from what I find, it's the Speed switch relay, which would control the speed switch, and idle stop switch. I don't plan on installing the original carb so I guess I'm ok to pitch it in the trash. Thanks everyone again.
