Inliners International Forums General Discussion Engines modern paint code for 216 motor

I've been searching the archives both here and several other sites for modern paint code for the so-called Chevrolet blue-gray engine paint used from the late 30s up to around 1954.

Does anyone have a PPG, Dupont, Ditzler or equivelent code?

I know I can order paint from Bill Hirsch or Jim Carter, but would like to get an actual modern code.

Dear Steve;

Paint "codes" are for Automotive finish products, not engine paints.

Any gray spray can will do. There is a GM spray can (& # AKA GM blue) for the 54-62 engines which can be purchased at any Kragen Auto Parts & some 'mail order' Chevy vendors.

The correct color is a dark gray with a hint of blue. The Filling Station, Lebanon, OR and Chevs of the Forties both have this in stock. The Bill Hirsch color is too light. Many restorations have used an almost baby blue paint which is also wrong.
