ChevyII,I used a stock GM TV cable and made my own bracket out of aluminum to hold the TV and throttle cables. The bracket has a square hole in it to allow the cable snap clips to hold it in place. The bracket is mounted to the intake manifold below the carb. The cable has a tab that you press to allow the cable to move in or out to adjust it.Measure a cable on a stock GM unit and mount the cable in the same place on your model. Also another item to note is the trans fill tube.I used a stock tube and hand bent a curve in it to match the firewall.Fab your own parts to keep the cost down if you can.If you have the TV cable in the wrong spot you will know right away, when you drive the car the trans will not shift correct.I also drove a pick up with a 700r4 for a while to get the feel of how the trans will shift. The cable issue was easy for my model as it had a Torqueflite trans in it that uses line pressure to shift it.You could adjust the shift point/line pressure on the side of the carb by the length of the lever. The cable was easy, small and compact. The old trans had a mess of levers, arms, springs etc to deal with.It is hard to get used to the four speed with overdrive after all of those years with a three speed.2100 RPM on the highway at 60 mph with a gear.
