I picked my Dodge up last Sept. It was restored by the previous owner, but needs a bunch of help. The body panels aren't hung straight and the paint job has more runs that a high scoring baseball game.

It does have a later 230 in it, and I got the original 218 plus a second tranny and a bunch of other parts. Not a bad deal all.

I'm working on all of it, as time permits.

Have no idea how to post images in this forum for now.

Nice to have a Dodge guy here again. MOPAR flathead sixes were my dad's favorite engines. We had a lot of them in use when I was a kid and made many rounds trips between Texas and California. He made lots of repairs along the way but we always made it.
Sorry but you can not post pictures here without joining Inliners International. I'd like to see what you are working on.

Indeed they are pretty cool, we have a local guy in our Bay Area Inliners that has a '40 Plymouth with a flathead six, it's olive, and is really nice. They made some cool Plymouth pickups, but they're pretty rare but have super nice grills and front ends on them. I wouldn't mind having one of them, but the Art Deco era Chevy is the one I have and probably will have for a long time.

Even so, it's a PITA to have to post them over in the Photo forum, and the size restrictions are limiting somewhat. It would be nice if the Inliners International would just bite the bullet and allow people to upload photos in their posts. The software is capable of doing it, it's just configured not to, AFAIK.

Lostviking, where are you in Cali? I live in San Jose, but building a home in Lake County also...at least I'm *trying* to build a home...LOL I just googled the '46 Dodge and those are way cool, similar to the Plymouth and very much like my '46 Chevy. Love the headlights and style, it has good lines, IMO. You just can't go wrong with Art Deco era! whistle

EDIT: Hooya! Check this video out, this is pretty cool...Lostviking, do you have those turn signals on the side by the doors? I like that!

I joined the BB, but also sent off membership dues to Inliners International. That was Jan 1, so I guess I'm just waiting for that to go through.
Thanks for the welcome.

Those are just running lights, at least stock. There were no turn signals in these trucks. Not sure when they got added, but the 39-47 Job Rated ones like mine did not.
I'm going to add blinker when I get a chance, but they and seat belts are not required by law...just common sense.

Just watched the video, he's a bit off though. That is a 1T based upon the 6 bolt wheels and rear axle. That makes it a WD20.

I wondered about that as it said he was a dually originally. Not too many people seeking the big axle.

Is your WD15 a 3/4 ton?

Where are you in Cali? There's a breakfast in Milpitas on Jan. 18th for the Bay Area Inliners, all makes and vehicles welcome. There's a guy with the beautiful '40 Plymouth, and another guy has a Mustang with a straight six in it. Chances are you're somewhere else, but I was curious.

I'm in the south bay of San Diego.

Yes, my truck is a WD15 which is a 3/4T. Five lug wheels. Almost completely original. Previous owner converted the wipers to electric (still 6V) and had the drive shaft updated for a newer version U-joint. That's about all. It has a 58 230 in it now, but I'm disassembling the original motor. OD says 63,000 and from what I see in the engine, that's probably accurate.

Wow viking that's a beauty! You could turn those running lights into turn signals easy, that's really cool how those are setup...Chevy put signals on top of my headlights for the Art Deco era trucks.

You're a bit far for the Bay Area Inliners, maybe you have a group down by you.

I don't get down there too often, but am originally from L.A. I've been eyeing a 2-ton Gantry for sale in San Marcos on Ebay, but the 450 miles one way keeps me re-thinking it. whistle

That truck is sure a beauty! Looks in great shape!

Hi Keroppi . . . I realize that the process is not the most friendly but rest assured that properly 'curated' photos uploaded into the Club's gallery will remain online for years to come . . . well worth the effort.

As for the size limitations (and the need for bullet biting) I am happy to respond transparently about what we can and cannot support. First, our version of UBB threads (7.5.8) does in fact provide 'File Manager' support in both Gallery and Discussions threads. But in both forum types the support is limited to attachments. So even if we configure the File Manager to accept .jpg/.gif/.tif file types in a Discussion Forum they will not result in a rendered image. They will simply be available for download. The Image Manager is not available in a Discussion Forum. This is why the Photo Library (gallery forum) was created.

Second, the Image Manager in a Gallery Forum doesn't include the ability to reduce raw images from a digital camera or cell phone. We can configure an inbound upload size limit - but the software isn't capable of taking a raw 4608x3456 (4MB) image and reducing it down to something reasonable for rendering in a web page. Hence the need to crop/resize.

I am continuing to research options to make it easier for Club Members to share images on our Forums.

But I digress and we hijack the OP . . .

Welcome aboard Lostviking . . . I love the truck and the flat head six! Must be a blast to drive.

regards,

stock,

That I agree, and will do my part to put photos there and link them to the threads. It is certainly a step in the right direction.

I don't want to poo-poo viking's thread up because that truck is awesome, good to see other Art Decos on the Inliner's International.

One of the people at our local Inliner's group always says everyone is welcome with Inlines, that goes for tractors, boats, and any type of make car or truck that has an inline.

A '49 Dodge that an acquaintance had was what first got me to start looking at other trucks besides an old Ford, and it was during that research I realized how bad Henry Ford was as a person, and how the lines of some of the other makes were much nicer than the Fords.

The Dodge pickups are cool. cool

Thanks everyone for the comments. It is a blast to drive, but it has a very low speed limit right now due to the gearing. By 45MPH you don't want to push it much more. Tall sidewalls and straight axle suspension don't make you want to push things if the road has a bend in it anyway.

I'm torn between wanting to keep it completely original and wanting to freshen it up so I can drive it anywhere. Either way the 230 stays.

Now if I can just find money to get the paint fixed (lots of problems that hide nicely in the picture) and get the sheet metal hung straight.
