Hi I'm new here, been reading the forums for awhile now though. My question is a little different I currently have as you say a old tyme bent six (305 V6) that I will be taking out of my 64 GMC and I was considering a 292. I know that the 292 has a little more hp. I guess less torque but what performance difference can I expect? ( the 305 redlines @ 3800)How easy is it to find these engines , can I easily find P.S and A.C brackets. Most of forums I've read talk about needing 4:11 gears for revs and I would like to turn about 2200 rpm @ 60 without O.D.I have a dana 60 now with 4:11's and a four speed, I hope to switch back to the dana 44 with 3:07's This is to be a fun (cheap) play toy, any thoughts?

jgrh64, Check the Classifieds column to the left. There is a real nice 292 in your general area that you might be interested in.

jgrh64, You're on the right track with a 292. The 305 was a great little motor but its a all pull no go motor. Was used in buses and light/med duty trucks. Alot of performance equipment and specs on the 292 to make that 64 one bitchin' ride. Good luck.

Please disregard my post above. It amounted to nothing really.
