What do / did you use for side motor mounts on a 261? I can't seem to find a supplier for these, or am i looking in the wrong places? John

I have never found any pre-made although I've thought about contacting Tom Langdon about his later style mounts to see if they could be modified to work. In the mean time I have stock mounts for 60-63 Chevy truck that I am playing around with to see if they'll work on an earlier chassis. Some of the classic hot rod parts suppliers sell u-weld kits you may be able to adapt.

Mounting wise, the 261 is the same as a 235 per a given year.

What year engine block and what are you putting it in? (sorry, I don't remember)

Bryan, My 261 is a later 60's model with the mounts near the center of the block. 235's came with mounts like that? I've only seen the front mounts on later 235's.Hope you are right. I'd like to check them out.

All 58-62 blocks have the 3 bolt side mount, and most also have the angled 2 bolt front corner mounts that were used on the 55-57 cars and 55-62? trucks.

My '60 261 and '58 235 have both sets...

55-57 blocks only have the front corner 2 bolt mounts.

'54 blocks have the '52-54 car type 3-bolt sidemounts (different than 58-62).

Tom Langdon has mounts available to put the '58-62 engines into the '52-54 cars, using the stock '52-54 frame mounts.

I don't know what Buffalo sells because he doesn't think that an accessible catalog or website is important, so you would have to call him...

I am working on motor mounts to cover all of the variables, but I won't be ready to sell them till later this summer, after I finish up on all of the alt/AC/PS brackets I've been developing...

My engine is a 60. I don't see any mount holes on the left front of my engine. It has them on the right front with the generator holes. And I can't use the front mounting plate as my steering rack is there. So I have to use the three hole middle of the block mounts for my truck. John

Unless Buffalo has something, you will need to fabricate or if you can wait a couple weeks, I could get some made. I would need a few dimensions from you in order to make sure they would work, though.

John,I'll try to post or email to you a pic of my mounts later today. I bought my mounts through this person over on Stovebolt. He specializes in 60-66 Chevy truck parts. There are a couple of others that sell like parts there too.The parts I bought from this person were in excellent condition and needed only minor attention before painting.

John,Here's the pics. The fist pic is acomplete set up for a 1960-66 C10.Not your years I know, but it gives you an idea of how it assembles.
The last pic is the bracket you interested in loosely fitted to my 261. Hope this helps.

Drew, Thanks for the pictures. I'm glad that you guys document your builds with pictures. I've got to get my camera out and do the same. These help me to se what the orginals looked like so I can have ideas on making mine work. Thanks again John
