Tom,

Have you read the May 1955 HRM article about Frank McGurk\'s 261 build ? It is about a 261, but Racer Brown discusses McGurk's camshafts, which were probably developed for 235s. I may have some more literature at home. If I can find it, I will put it on the BB. I have a McGurk 56 cam in my 261. I also have a Racer Brown cam that I will soon be running in another 261 that I am building.

About 30 years ago I was at Isky's shop in Gardena Ca. All of Frank McGurks stuff was there at that time. Ed must have bought him out or the person running that spot just used the area (I wish I could remember his name). I bought a flywheel, 2 intakes, and the last 2 sets of GMC Thomas magnesium rockers (I still have them).

I'm sure Isky could look up, if they would, any of Franks cams if you had the number. Isky probably started using his masters and packaged them under his label.

A friend of mine has quite a large collection of memorabilia including many old catalogs from the 40's, 50's, & 60's. I'll look to see what he has.

Hi Tom . . .

McGurk cams show up every once in a while on eBay . . . mostly 216 stuff and usually the radical long duration grinds that are designed for sustained high rpms. I saw one a while back with the following specs:
McGurk - Super Grind
....................Timing.....Lift....Duration
Intake............28-74.....0.46......282
Exhaust..........72-32.....0.46......286

For the me the more interesting grinds are the asymmetrical ones designed for exhaust scavenging:
McGurk - #18
....................Timing.....Lift....Duration
Intake............10-55.....0.421......245
Exhaust..........72-32.....0.410......284

Iskenderian had a similar grind back in the day:

The good news is you don't need to find a McGurk original - you can have a core reground to whatever antique spec you like:
