finally got some momentum moving ahead with my 292 swap. Last night I bolted up the offy, Holley 4150 and one of the air cleaners I'm thinking of using to the 194 to see what kind of clearance I have.

This is what I did to 'guesstimate it':

Based on this it looks like I have at most 2" of clearance. Since the 292 is 1 7/8" taller than the 194, this is cutting it really close.

Right now the Holley sits on a 1" aluminum spacer and the offy baseplate (not sure what this is called).

I took some measurements last night and it looks like I could get by with the base plate and a .5" spacer. Or maybe a 1" spacer modified to bolt to the base plate.

The easiest would for me would to get the .5" spacer. Which type would you recommend? Here are a few I'm looking at:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1402/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1405-1/

As you can see, some of them are 'open' and the others have 4 holes in them. Is one better than the other?

Thanks!

thanks for the help!

I'm hoping to order the carb spacer, throttle return springs, and radiator tonight.

I have found that the carb spacer that works the best usually has nitrous bars in it..... \:\)

I always liked a 4 hole spacer on my 250. But w/a 292 & the Offy intake, you could go w/a open hole spacer.
