what is best cam for 261 with fenton set up?


Have 37 Chevy with 292 & 49 Chevy with 261

I would think something in the range of 290 degrees duration and .510 lift with a good bit of overlap would be good.

Just kidding. Depends on what you are using the vehicle for, what other kind of upgrades for the motor, what kind of trans you are running, whether you have any power assist add ons that require vacuum, what you want out of the motor, all kinds of stuff. Sooooo, how about it?

49 bus coupe - 62 261 - 40 over stock - 848 head - fenton in & out w/2 rodchesters - S10 5spd - 343 gears - street car only - want it to sound good & be driveable.

I would think something in the 272 duration, 480 lift. The sound of the motor at idle will depend on the center line and over lap. Try contacting Schneider cams in San Diego. You get to talk to the boss and tell him what you want and what you have and he will give you a recommendation. They ground the cam in my current 261. Hands down the best sounding cam I have ever used and the motor runs terrific.

Im using the 251 grind cam that delta sells in my 235 and will be using the same cam in my 261 build. Idles smooth and performs much better at the mid to high rpms and it moved the low end up only a few hundred rpms.
