Hi all, long time lurker here.
I hope someone can help.
I have installed new studs and nuts in my exhaust manifold, ( stud and nut kit from "the car shop" )

now after a few drives the nuts come loose. ?
Iam not using any washers, and have tried using two nuts on each stud.

HELP!

thanks!
David

Worse case, Stage8 makes a locking bolt (not stud) kit specifically for inlines.

David first check that your studs are not to long and that the nuts are making good contact with the flange(i.e that they havent run out of thread on the stud.)If this is the problem either buy a slightly shorter stud or build up the space needed witha washer. After that use some loctite on the nuts or use nyloc nuts ( you should really only use these once) Rembember to retorque the nuts after the engine is warmed up.

Nyloc doesn't work on exhaust nuts, Loctite either. Get Chevy Rocker arm nuts that are self locking by being slightly crushed.

thanks eveyone.
I don't think the loctite or the nyloc will work here, too hot.
the studs only had a small area where there was no thread and its up tight to the manifold.

Ed ,are the rocker arm nuts the same size, thread ?

thanks again
David
