Hey Guys,

I have a lifter removal tool that works like a small slide hammer but the head (of the tool)is too long to allow proper extraction of the lifters.

Is there another tool or optional head that is made specifically for use on an Chevy inline 6 ?

I can make one but that could be pretty time consuming to do it right. . so I thought I'd just see if there was something out there for a few bucks instead of "re-inventing the wheel".

I've been there before . . . . spend a whole afternoon making something only to find out later that for "$9.99" I could have bought one !

Any ideas ? Thanks !

i ran into this same problem when trying to extract the lifters from my block...unfortunitely the only thing that worked was to bore the pushrods holes in the block big enough to fit the lifter tool...a good half hour with an electric drill and some cutting oil and youll be ready to pull those lifters out in no time.

if still in the car use a hose clamp around the top of lifter and a screw driver to pry them out. some carb cleaner or wd40 sprayed around the lifter will soften the varnish.

Dear Mr. Crockett;

Laquer thinner does it every time.

Just squirt a little around the outside of the lifter & 'go for it'.

Good luck, John M....
