What are the best spark plugs for a moderatly built 292? I used Champions for years, but they're not highly regarded in some circles. I had bad results with the last batch -- since they stopped making them in Michigan, I guess.
I used Champion Truck Plugs # 4404 on my last motor, then tried Ch Plat 3031s and finally 4405s to go hotter.
I got a set of AC-R44XLS. But had to go to 4 auto parts stores to find them.
What corresponding AC-Delco numbers would equal those Champion heat ranges?

I think platinums are over rated. Try NGK.They have a good rep, but you'll have to find crossover numbers.

Well I went with AC R44XLS, and a new condenser, and put on an Edelbrock 500 CFM. And it's running like a bat outa hell now!
But I am noticing some run-on or dieseling, on shut down after a 15 mile hop in the 50s. Should I get plugs with a shorter reach, or is it just 2 months worth of cylinder wall scale burning off after such a long hangar session?

Check the timing and you said something about changing the condenser. You may want to recheck the points as well.

Besides your timing check the idle speed and mixture screws again. Hot spots in the cylinders and even a slightly high idle speed will cause run on.
