I am getting ready to tackle my first engine rebuild of a 292 chevy engine. Was wondering if there is a good source for a packaged complete overhaul kit that a guy like myself can purchase to make this as dummy proof as possible.

For a stock engine I've always let whoever is doing the machine work for me supply the kit. Feel like I get a better price & the benefit of their experience. Doug

Do you already have a core? I live in snohomish, WA and have two in unknown condition the will very soon be going to the scap heap. One is laying in a field and the other is in a truck that is to be scapped.

I may replace the 292 in my truck, or have it rebuilt.

What would be a ballpark figure for a rebuilt GM 292 motor with head? what could i expect to spend if I have mine rebuilt?
