I,m a new member and this is my first post. Is
there a difference in valve size and port shape
between a '65 292 head and mid 70's 250 "smog head"?? My 250 head is a non-intergrated manifold
type head with smog fittings above the ports.
Would it be a benefit to run the early 292 head
on my '69 250 engine?? This is going in an older
truck so smog is not an issue. Any info. is welcome.
thanx,
RWG

The 292 head MAY have slightly larger chambers. See if the casting numbers shows up on the list under tech tips. For the most part, other than small chamber 194 heads, you will not see any real differences in function or performance between stock inline non-integral heads.

I agree, there is no real difference to running one of the older heads, I have heard people say the original U.S.heads are stonger than the "hecho en Mexico" G.M. replacements though.
